Adding to its escalating aggression in northern Syria, Turkey carried out heavy drone shellings against Manbij (Minbîc) on Wednesday, resulting in the death of four fighters who were attempting to transport two wounded children to hospital. Meanwhile, another Turkish drone strike claimed the life of a civilian.
The four fighters killed in the air strike were affiliated to Manbij Military Council (MMC) forces and were trying to transport the injured children to the hospital in the village of Dendeiyê, northwest of Manbij, when they were targeted by yet another Turkish drone.
The MMC, a coalition established by several groups within the Syrian Democratic Forces in North and East Syria, stated that two other fighters were injured. “Additionally, in the village of Ereb Hesen, a civilian was killed when a house was targeted by a drone strike,” they said in a written statement.
The Turkish forces followed up a series of devastating attacks in the greater Manbij area on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning with airstrikes on the canton of Qamishli (Qamishlo) on Wednesday afternoon. Reports indicate that four people have been injured as a result of the recent bombing.
The escalation of Turkish military actions in the region has heightened concerns about the safety and security of the local population. The attacks in the Manbij area have already claimed numerous lives, and the recent airstrike on Qamishli further exacerbates the volatile situation.
