The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Executive Committee celebrated the Newroz ceremony on Sunday calling on millions in European and Kurdish cities to join in.
“In the name of Abdullah Öcalan, we celebrate the Newroz of our people in their struggle, and of our supporters,” said the PKK marking this year’s Newroz to be a symbol for the freedom of the PKK’s founding leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The PKK called on millions in Diyarbakır and all Kurdish cities, and in European cities, to attend the Newroz ceremony to demand freedom for Öcalan.
“If we carry the spirit of Newroz to Öcalan’s leadership with resistance, and we bear the weight of the process to peace, we will achieve great success,” the committee said.
“We believe that our people and our units fighting for democracy and freedom will expand with the spirit of Newroz,” PKK added.
The PKK also referred to the elections in May, stating that no government trickery could stop their struggle.
