Wars not only enrich the arms dealers, but also serve the interests of those in power who want to divert the attention of the masses to the war in question and prevent discussion of their rule, writes Hüseyin Aykol for Yeni Yaşam.
You read many analyses from the media, especially in our newspaper, on the background of the Ukraine crisis. All of them are true and there is more, I think it is something everyone will understand: The imperialist West wants to take Ukraine out of Russia’s influence and bring it under its sovereignty. Just like all the other Eastern European states…
However, my advice to those who want to step back and see the big picture is to understand the following: The current crisis of the capitalist system needs an immediate war, and it needs a big one!
The world has been dealing with the covid-19 pandemic for almost two years. For this reason, while almost 5 million people have died to date, both capitalist production and consumption have fallen drastically. But the governments in the USA and the wealthier states in Europe supported their own people significantly during this period by releasıng free money.
However, after a short period, the funding for this support, which was made to prevent the unemployed masses forced to stay in their homes from taking to the streets against the governments, caused inflation to rise in the countries in question.
The best known model for getting rid of this crisis of capitalism, whose end is not in sight, is war, starting war. When the war breaks out, energy prices, especially oil prices, arms prices and even food prices will increase. In other words, rich capitalist states will get richer.
The most weapons are sold when war breaks out. Stored and stockpiled weapons are sold. Old models are sold. This makes room for new weapons in warehouses. Wars are more important than arms fairs or even advertısements for weapons. Because the deadliness of the weapon in question is tested on a living person.
States that can produce more weapons than they need and sell them all over the world are already among the richest. The increase in arms sales thanks to wars that have been started makes them even richer. While states that buy weapons to use in the wars become even poorer.
Wars not only enrich the arms dealers, but also serve the interests of those in power who want to divert the attention of the masses to the war in question and prevent discussion of their rule. So be sure not to be fooled by some leaders currently under pressure in the USA and Europe, who have the appearance of being concerned about Ukraine!
Each time capitalism emerges from its inherent periodic crises, wealth is redistributed and the number of the existing rich is decreased. The most cruel and unjust of redistribution of assets is done by wars.
As the war contınues in Ukraine, along with material destruction that will increase with each passing day, thousands of workers taken on as soldiers will die, from both sides. While they face suffering that will last for generations cards will be shuffled over the wealth of the country.
