On Christmas Eve, the day before Christmas Day, an internationally celebrated day of ‘peace and joy’, Turkish forces along with their controlled Jihadist militias are steadily increasing their attacks and bombardment on territory and villages of Ayn Issa, (Ayn Issa translates to the Water Spring of Jesus) as Russia and America both guarantors of the ceasefire agreement signed with Turkey remain silent allowing the military occupation moves to go ahead during the Christmas holiday period.
As reported in Hawar News military mobilisations of the Turkish military and their mercenary forces are being observed as more villages come under occupation by Turkey’s forces. Turkish heavy equipment and artillery has been moved near to the occupied villages near the town of Zarkan, which is being shelled on a daily basis.
Sheikh Fathi a tribal and community leader in Zarkan spoke to Hawar News saying “There are several military points bordering the town of Zarkan, in which heavy military equipment is concentrated on only one small 1km area.”
Shiekh Fathi noted that the area is coming under almost daily attack and bombardment creating fear amongst the people of the town of an imminent invasion.
He added: “The forces of the Damascus government are stationed on the demarcation lines from Tal Tamr to Zarkan and the village of Kasrah, knowing that there is a Russian presence to monitor the lines, however, the attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on the vicinity of Zarkan and the road between Zarkan and Tal Tamer and between Zarkan and the village of Kasrah have not stopped.”
Sheikh Fathi criticised the silence of the Russian and US forces present in the area, and their lack of any stance or reaction to the Turkish attacks he said: “We have not heard any response and there is international silence on these attacks!” And he called on the countries of the world, decision-makers and the United Nations to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.”
Sheikh Fathi concluded by pointing out that the only way to defeat these attacks was with solidarity of the people and community cohesion.
