Taking place at the Basel Democratic Kurdish Community Centre, the conference has set out to address the mounting challenges posed by capitalist modernity, exploring potential exit strategies and resolution perspectives.
The second day witnessed organisations from different continents delivering presentations, engaging in discussions on navigating crises emanating from modern capitalism. Interactive workshop sessions covered diverse topics such as “History and Resistance”, “Liberation of Women and Democratic Socialism from a Jineology Perspective”, “Transnational Class Struggle in the 21st Century”, and “Democratic Youth Confederalism: Youth in the Struggle Against Capitalist Modernity”.
The workshops shed light on the hurdles presented by capitalist modernity and the prevailing ideology of the nation-state, as reported by Serkan Demirel. Notably, the importance of Abdullah Öcalan’s Democratic Confederalism paradigm and the call for democratic nationhood received emphasis. The need for robust international solidarity networks among organisations battling various challenges globally was a recurring theme.
Looking ahead, the conference’s agenda includes a panel on “Socialist Ideals – Towards Renewal” and discussions on organisation and internationalism, featuring topics ranging from alternative weaving experiences to insights from the Kurdistan Freedom Movement.
