The Turkish state has attempted to destabilise the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (NES), also known as Rojava, since the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the People’s Defense Units (YPG) defeated the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in 2014 in Northern Syria. Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT) plot to assassinate Kurdish politicians Saleh Muslim and Aldar Xelil has reportedly been uncovered.
The assassination plot was uncovered by the North and East Syria Internal Security Forces (Asayish) after they arrested an agent who worked for MİT.
Agent S.Ö (55) was captured during an operation and confessed that MİT had contacted him when he was working as a driver for NES.
S.Ö. confessed that MİT wanted him to share information about PYD Council members Saleh Muslim and Aldar Xelil and the information of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)’s locations.
