After days of rising tensions and clashes with the Iraq troops, it has been reported that the situation has reached some sort of settlement and that an understanding was reached between leaders of the Iraqi army and Sinjar Resistance Units (YBŞ), reported North Press Agency (NPA).
An Iraqi security source in Sinjar (Shingal) District, northern Iraq, was reported by NPA to say on Wednesday that the situation was settled after days of tension.
An Iraqi military delegation had come to Sinjar on Tuesday after tension and clashes between the Iraqi army and the Shingal Resistance Units.
“Leaders of the Iraqi army and Sinjar Resistance Units (YBŞ), have negotiated on the recent situation and have reached an understanding,” said Hisso Ibrahim, the co-vice chair of the autonomous administration of Sinjar reported NPA.
Ibrahim appealed the Yezidi families, who had to leave Sinjar due to the lastest conflicts, to return to their homes safely.
Çeko Şengalî, a YBS commander has also made a statement reported Mezopotamya Agency (MA), in which he said: “They had given a deadline for the people to leave their houses. People had to leave their villages and their houses. However no such conflict was experienced. All they said were lies. The problems that arose were solved. Ten hours have passed since the deadline they gave but there is no war as they threatened. We are calling on our people to return to their homes.”
MA cited Hisso Ibrahim, co-vice chair of Sinjar Autonomous Administration, too.
“A special war was waged so that our people become migrants, fleeing on roads, so that Sinjar would be emptied. All these were lies and games played by KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party ruling Kurdistan Region of Iraq). We call on our people not to be deceived by the dirty tricks of KDP. KDP’s target is to push the Sinjar people to migrate. Our society should be in peace and they should return to their homes.” said Hisso Ibrahim.
