Its political counterpart is the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), a political assembly representing political parties and organizations in North and East Syria. The SDC creates the political framework for the governance of Syria along a decentralized, federal model and its unified military force is the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
“The Kobane resistance constituted the beginning of a new era which led to the massive defeat of ISIS”, stated AANES. The liberation of Kobane on 27 January has become the ground from which the project of a Democratic Syria rises.
