North and East Syria Internal Security Forces have announced the launch of a humanitarian security campaign to protect civilians in the Al-Hol camp from Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), reports Hawar News.
A press statement announcing the campaign was read by the spokesperson of the Internal Security Forces, Ali Hesen. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) spokesperson Kino Gabriel and Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG) spokesperson Nuri Mahmoud, as well as Avinar Derik, a member of the General Command of the Jazira Region, were also present during the statement.
“We will continue this move carefully for the protection of civilians who stay in the camp,” stated the officials. “With this campaign, we aim to save the camp residents from the threat of the ISIS.”
They confirmed that ISIS continues to be a threat for civilians in the region. “Secret ISIS cells still target civil society administrators and civilians in North and East Syria every day. As the Internal Security Forces, we insist on the war against terrorist organisations in cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces.”
It was noted that more than 60,000 people stay in the camp now and children make up the majority of inhabitants. “These children’s families are ISIS members. They aim to protect ISIS and revive it at an appropriate time by establishing a special administration for them. ISIS police officers, called Al Hesbe, established their special courts recently. At the same time, they teach ISIS materials to children in the camp. They will create a new generation of terrorists all over the world. Those children must be saved from this fate.”
Insistence on war against ISIS
AANES officials said they continue to ensure all the needs for those living in the camp are met with the assistance given by International Relief Associations. “Internal Security Forces in cooperation with the SDF are responsible for the security in the Al-Hol Camp, but now the camp has turned into an ISIS epicentre. So far this year 47 people have been murdered.
“Based on this, Internal Security Forces supported by the SDF have launched a humanitarian security campaign in the camp to bring to an end all these ISIS activities. We promise that we will take all necessary measures to guarantee the safety of all civilians in the camp.”
