A high-level delegation has travelled from North and East Syria to the US in response to an official invitation. The AANES delegation, which first met with officials at the White House in Washington, consisted of Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) Management Committee Leader İlham Ehmed, Autonomous Administration Co-Chair for the Jazira Region Nazire Gewriye, SDC Washington Representative Sinem Muhammed, SDC Management Committee member Bessam Sakar and Derazor Council Co-Chair Khasam Al-Yusuf.
According to information Medya News has obtained from reliable sources, the meetings went off positively, and it was reported that discussions were around the crisis which has been ongoing in Syria for over ten years, and solutions to the crisis. The delegation from AANES shared their opinion that the crisis could not be solved by external forces, but only with the internal dynamics of Syria, including the Damascus government and opposition groups. It was stated that the US officials were of the same opinion as the AANES delegation with regard to the solution of the crisis and that they would support the AANES towards a solution. It was reported that after the White House the delegation would go on to meet with members of the US Congress and Senate.
An AANES delegation also travelled to Russia for talks with the Russian Foreign Ministry on 15 September. A delegation headed by Ilham Ehmed met with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow to discuss the situation in Syria, and the SDC’s US representative said that during the meeting Russia had promised to help facilitate talks between the Syrian Kurds and Damascus.
