Bozan Aslan died after suffering a heart attack near a private medical centre in Turkey’s southeastern Gaziantep (Dilok), where staff allegedly refused to provide emergency assistance, citing a lack of payment. The incident occurred on Thursday, and Aslan’s family has filed a criminal complaint against the clinic.
While shopping at a market, Aslan collapsed from a heart attack, hitting his head on the ground and bleeding. Despite being just 10 metres away from the private Vita Line Medical Centre, staff reportedly told those seeking help, “We cannot assist; it is outside our authority.” After multiple attempts to seek help from the clinic failed, Aslan was eventually taken by ambulance to Bossan Hospital, two kilometres away, where he later died despite medical intervention.
Barış Aslan, the deceased’s son, expressed outrage on social media, accusing the medical centre of prioritising profit over patient care. “This centre is not a hospital but a business. There were ambulances, but they did not help. They may not have helped because there was no one there to pay them,” he said. “The staff disregarded their oaths, and my father died because of it. We will file a criminal complaint with video evidence. This is murder.”
