A sit-in protest has started in Strasbourg, France in front of the Council of Europe building Cedex with the participation of 15 institutions led by the European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress (KCDK-E) and the European Kurdish Women’s Movement (TJK-E), and will last for one month.
The protest action has been initiated against Turkey’s military operations in Iraqi (Bashur) Kurdistan with the slogan “Everywhere is Avashin, Zap and Metina and we are against the invasion and genocidal attacks”. The campaign was initiated in accordance with another campaign of Freedom Watch for the release of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Leader Abdullah Öcalan who has been in solitary confinement since 1999.
Speaking on behalf of TJK-E, Berivan Avcı stated that their actions will continue until the attacks of Turkey ends and called for solidarity with their protest.
Kongra Gel Co-chair Remzi Kartal said that it is unacceptable for international forces to remain silent about the attacks of the Turkish state against Kurdish people in the region.
”It should be known by the Council of Europe, NATO, the USA and world public opinion; The people of Kurdistan and their friends will never accept the genocide of the Kurdish people. We will not remain silent on this. We will increase the resistance everywhere,” Kartal said.
