There have been several marches in support of imprisoned Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in Rojava over the past few days, calling for his release. One took place on 12 September and another on 15 September.
The first march, from the main avenue of Qamişlo leading to the city centre, was organised by Revolutionary Youth (Cîwanen Şoreşger) and called for his release.
The second march, organised by Young Women’s Units, ended outside the United Nations building, where speeches were also made about the failure of the UN to effectively halt the Turkish state’s invasion of northern and eastern Syria.
