Seasonal agricultural workers who travel thousands of kilometers from the cities of Kurdistan face precarious living and working conditions. They often do not have adequate access to safe water or electricity supplies. They have to work and live in unhealthy and unsafe conditions.
The Occupational Health and Safety Council’s July report noted that at least 164 workers died from work-related causes that month. Thirteen percent of deaths came from the agriculture and forestry sectors, where many seasonal agricultural workers come from. An additional fourteen percent of workers who died were farmers.
