The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has stated that the SDF will respond effectively to the Turkish airstrikes that have resulted in the deaths of 14 people and many wounded.
The SDF published a statement today 20 October, regarding the Turkish state’s attack on northern Syria, under the pretext of the 13 November Istanbul bombing.
“We are fully confident that our people will strengthen their national unity and cohesion with greater determination,” said the SDF in its statement and added that the SDF will display a stronger stance against the attacks of the Turkish occupying state and its partners.
Sharing statistical information on the casualties, the SDF said that the Turkish state had targeted medics and other civilians, carrying out a great slaughter resulting in the deaths of 11 civilians and the wounding of six others in Dêrik.
The SDF also gave information regarding 15 members of the forces of the Syrian regime who lost their lives in these attacks, adding that the attacks are not targeting the Kurdish people alone, but rather all components of North and East Syria.
“Just as we defended our people and our regions against the attacks of the terrorist organisation ISIS and the Turkish occupying state, from now on we will carry out our historic duty – and with greater persistence and determination – we will continue our struggle,” said SDF.
“The attacks of the Turkish occupying state will not remain unanswered. At the appropriate time and place, we will respond in a strong and effective way,” added the SDF.
Turkey bases its right of self-defence as mentioned in the UN Charter on the 13 November bomb attack in Istanbul that killed six people.
But the Kurdish organisations and parties, including the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), have denied the accusations and announced that they had no connection with the bomb attack.
