Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) removed Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) bases in Baxoz town in the Derazor region of Syria on 23 March 2019. ISIS subsequently began to organise cells which carried out several assassinations and assaults in the region. The SDF tries to ensure security in northeastern Syria by conducting operations against these cell organisations.
During those operations hundreds of ISIS members were captured by the SDF. One of them is Ebu Nimir El-Ciheşi, who was responsible for abducting families staying in the Al-Hol refugee camp and taking them to Iraq.
According to a Hawar News report, some members of El-Çiheşi’s group were also arrested by the SDF. The leader of the group is in Iraqi Kurdistan, according to reports.
Another prisoner captured by the SDF is Etaallah Mihemed. He said the Ebu Nimir El Ciheşi, including Iraqians and Syrians, consisted of six people. The leader of the group is Hisen El-Ebdo, whose code name is “Ebu Nimir El-Ciheşi”. Smuggler Fêsel Îd El-Sûdan, known as Ebû Mişel El-Şemerî, is responsible for the families in Syria. Smugglers Deham Ewad El-Elî, Kardeşi Ebû Salih and Ebû Xalid El-Şerabî are the other members of the group, according to Mihemed.
Etaallah Xelîfê’nin (22) from Iraq, claims that Hisên El-Ebdo and the smuggler Deham Ewad El-Elî’ were responsible. Ebû Nimir El-Cihêşî’s cell has taken 10 people out of the camp so far, said Xelifê.
Al-Hol camp
The Al-Hol refugee camp, located in eastern Al-Hasakah (Heseke), is the biggest camp in the region, and also the most dangerous. The Autonomous Administration carries on its efforts to ensure the stranded families can one day return to their home countries.
After operations carried out in 2019 to remove ISIS, families of ISIS members were placed in the camp. Tens of thousands of women and children from 53 different nations are living in the camp, which has been under the control of the Autonomous Administration since 2015.
