The award winners of the 27th Musa Anter and Free Press Martyrs Journalism Awards have been announced. Medyanews reporter Seda Taşkın has also been granted the “Jury’s Special Award” with her photograph “The Hasankeyf.”
Musa Anter and Free Press Martyrs Journalism Awards have been given in memory of poet and journalist Musa Anter (Ape Musa), who had been assassinated in Diyarbakır due to a gun attack 25 years ago on September 20.
The award organisation is held by Yeni Yaşam Gazetesi each year in September.
The awards are handed in five categories “Turkish News”, “Kurdish News”, “Photography”, “Cartoon,” and “Women’s Journalism” in memory of Gurbetelli Ersöz.
In the Turkish news report category, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Erdoğan Alayumat has been granted the award “Jury’s special award.”
MA reporter Fahrettin Kılıç and JinNews reporter Medya Üren have been granted to the award in the category of “Kurdish news.” Üren has been granted to the award with the report “Me xwe gihaşt nameya Î.E. ya ku çawişê pispor tecawizî wê kir” ( We have reached the letter of İpek Er who was raped by a specialized sergeant).
In the category of “Journalism on women” in memory of Gurbetelli Ersöz, Gazete Karınca reporter Sibel Yükler has been granted to the award, and also MA reporter Arjin Dilek Öncel has been granted to “Jury’s Special Award”.

In the category of photography, journalist Zeynep Kuray with her photograph “Blockade” and Fatoş Erdoğan with “The Photograph of Turkey,” has been granted to award.
