Twenty-three individuals were taken into custody in Eskişehir, Turkey, under Article 7/2 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 3713, following an investigation into an August wedding in a neighbourhood populated by internally displaced Kurds.
The investigation revealed that two singers performed four songs purportedly praising the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), and the remaining detainees participated in the singing, leading to accusations of “terrorist propaganda”.
The incident has drawn attention to the Turkish government’s ongoing scrutiny of its dissidents, including Kurdish communities and other minority groups.
