The Rise Up for Rojava (RU4R) campaign has issued an urgent call for activists worldwide to join protests and solidarity action on 14 December, as part of the Defend Rojava Global Day of Action launched in response to escalating violence in North and East Syria.
The region, governed by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), faces renewed offensives by Turkish-backed forces, including Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Syrian National Army (SNA). RU4R accuses Turkey of pursuing a Neo-Ottoman agenda to destabilise Syria and dismantle the Rojava Revolution, a pioneering social movement emerging after the onset of the Syrian civil war in 2012.
RU4R urges global solidarity, calling on “democratic and revolutionary forces” to protest Turkish state-linked institutions, expose international complicity in the attacks, and support the AANES as a model for peace and equality. The campaign highlights that Turkey’s military actions, backed by Western-made technology, have displaced thousands and intensified violence in the Middle East.
“This is not just an attack on Rojava—it is an attack on the hope for a freer, more equal world,” RU4R declared, emphasising the region’s resistance against jihadist and imperialist forces. The campaign described the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as the defenders of the region’s communities and accused the international community of turning a blind eye.
The group concluded with a rallying cry: “Take action against war profiteers, expose Turkey’s role in this conflict, and stand with the people of Rojava. Their struggle is a fight for all humanity.”
The situation in Syria remains dire, with Turkey’s latest offensive marking the most significant escalation since 2019. RU4R’s call to action highlights the urgent need for global solidarity against aggression in the region.
