Following the suicide attack on the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) in Ankara’s Kazan district facilities and subsequent large-scale ground and air operations targeting over 42 locations in North and East Syria and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party issued a statement on 24 October.
The Executive Committee of the party expressed profound regret regarding the ongoing escalation, warning that it will unavoidably result in increased suffering and widespread devastation. It also urged all parties to prioritise peaceful resolutions, stressing that only through dialogue and diplomacy can further catastrophe be averted.
In their statement, the DEM Party’s Executive Committee emphasised that “the airstrikes initiated after the attack on the TAI facility in Kahramankazan, Ankara, have only intensified violence in the region.”
“The bombardment of numerous locations in North and East Syria, particularly in Kobani, poses a severe threat to civilian lives. The disastrous effects of these operations risk escalating into a full-scale catastrophe for all involved,” the statement continued.
Concluding their statement, the DEM Party condemned military actions against civilians and called them a “flagrant violation of international law” and highlighted that “the continuation of this conflict will result in nothing but increased suffering and loss.”
