There is a sharp contrast between imperialist states who present the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) as the sole representative of the Kurdish people, and the Kurds themselves who perceive the KDP as a tool and a collaborator of these states, said an Executive Council member of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK).
Xebat Andok said:
“The reason for this is that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party [PKK] is gaining more and more influence in Kurdistan, the Middle East and the world. The PKK has been following a popular, socialist and independent political path since its foundation. For this reason, it has been attacked by the hegemonic forces of capitalist modernity and colonialism ever since then.”
The powers in the region and global capitalism have increasingly brought the KDP to the fore and accepted it as an interlocutor in order to diminish the influence of the PKK, he said.
KDP officials assume that by crushing the PKK, everything that currently exists in the name of the Kurds and Kurdistan will be brought under their control, he added.
Andok stated that the KDP is also actively involved in Turkey’s latest attacks in the KRI since 17 April, as well as Iraq’s attacks in the Yazidi homeland Sinjar (Shengal), where Turkey and the KDP seek to destroy the self-administration established by the people of Sinjar.
He noted that Turkey’s KDP-backed attacks are coordinated by the United States and certain European countries.
