On 17 June, an assassin named Onur Gencer attempted to set the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) İzmir Branch office on fire and murdered Deniz Poyraz (38), a Kurdish woman from the Mardin (Merdin) province of Turkey, whom he had taken hostage. The murder of Deniz Poyraz raised questions concerning political murders that are organised ‘deep politically’ by the state. Such a ‘phenomenon’ has been a common policy that has been practiced in Turkey throughout its history.
Yeni Yaşam Newspaper listed the following questions and concerns which remain unanswered:

* Why was the murderer arrested in a hurry within 18 hours?
* Who does the polygon in the killer’s statement belong to?
* Didn’t the police, who are always in front of the HDP building 24 hours a day, check the murderer’s bag?
* How long did the police wait while the assassin committed the murder?
* Where were the police when the assassin was wandering around the building after the murder?
* Did the police conduct a search for other persons who might be hiding on the floors?
* When the killer says he fired 10 bullets, who did the other bullets belong to?
* Why were the camera recordings in and around the HDP building entrance deleted?
* Who assisted the murderer while he was scouting the building for months?
* On what grounds did the murderer get his gun license?
* What is the relationship between the Balçova Thermal Hotel – which the murderer often went to – with the Izmir Governor?
* When exactly, and for what reason, did the assassin Gencer go to Syria?
