Ömer Koç was 17 years old when he was shot dead in 2015. There were Turkish policemen with shotguns in the area where he was killed. Later it was reported that the gun that killed Ömer was sent to Afrin by the state, and therefore the incident did not lead to a prosecution, reports the Mesopotamia News Agency.
On 4 October 2015, Ömer Koç left his home in the Rezan district of Diyarbakir (Amed), and was shot dead with a shotgun near a Ranger-type police vehicle waiting two streets away from his home. In the investigation launched after the incident, it was determined that the police fired at a group at the crime scene. Later, police officers Doğan 4 and Doğan 5, admitted that they had fired, claiming there was a violent clash. Police records revealed that the police at the scene had shotguns in their hands. The guns were requested from the police for investigation, but the guns were instead sent to Afrin, where no criminal investigation can carried out.
Since the prosecutor’s office decided not to prosecute the file on 3 October 2018 , lawyers of the Diyarbakir branch of the Human Rights Association objected to the Diyarbakır 1st Criminal Court of Peace. But their appeal was rejected. An individual application was then made to the Constitutional Court. The Constitutional Court accepted the application and asked for an opinion from the Ministry of Justice, which claimed that the investigation was carried out effectively and the non-examination of weapons was normal. And so another murder case related to the police was closed.
