The Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) has condemned the United States (US) Department of State’s promise of millions of dollars for any information leading to the capture of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leaders. “The US should reconsider its decision,” said the PJAK.
On 20 April the US Department of State renewed the bounties on the heads of leading PKK members Murat Karayilan, Cemil Bayik and Duran Kalkan.
The PJAK issued a written statement arguing that the attitude of the United States is “the same as the Turkish state”.
Drawing attention to the contradictory attitudes of the US, the PJAK said: “On the one hand, the US officially recognised the Armenian Genocide, on the other hand, it took such inhuman and unlawful decisions against the Kurdish people and their pioneers.”
The PJAK continued, “Everyone, especially Kurdish institutions and organisations, should take a stand against this decision. The PJAK condemns this decision and calls on the US to support the struggle of the Kurdish people and their pioneers. The US Department of State should review its decision and respect the rights of freedom fighters. The US should not serve fascism.”
