Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council co-chair Besê Hozat, speaking to Fırat News Agency, commented on current issues and the conditions of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan and the prison isolation conditions that have been imposed on him in İmrali Island.
Turkey is applying a psychological war against Kurdish people, she said. Hozat appealed to Turkey to stop playing with fire and warned: “It will have bad consequences”. She also appealed to international powers: “We call on international powers, the architects of the Imrali isolation system, to fulfil their responsibilities and put an end to the isolation system. Not only Turkey is responsible for this isolation. There is a policy of isolation based on the ‘dirty interests’ of the Western bloc – Europe, especially the USA and the Council of Europe. They do not want a democratic Turkey and a democratic Middle East. We call on them to give up these ‘dirty’ plans, based on the blood and lives of Kurds”.
Hozat emphasized that these policies made by certain Western powers and interests have been responsible for the Kurdish genocide and she noted that oppressive politics was also being applied against democratic forces as part of the genocidal policy on the Kurdish people.
“The humanity of the world respects Rebêr (leader) Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) today. Society all over the world wants Rebêr Apo’s freedom. This is a first in history. It is time to ensure Rebêr Apo’s physical freedom. It is the duty of humanity”, she said.
Hozat also celebrated the birthday of Öcalan, 4 April, and paid tribute to his Mother Üveyş: “The most meaningful answer our people will give on this day is to raise the struggle for Rebêr Apo’s physical freedom. At the current stage, the demand to end the isolation is not enough: it has become clear that the isolation can only be ended with the physical freedom of Rebêr Apo”.
