After the indictment seeking to permanently close People’s Democratic Party (HDP) had been filed, the Central Executive Board of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey held an urgent meeting in Ankara.
The HDP Executive Board defined the lawsuit against them as a “political coup” and discussed the political, social, and legal struggle that would be organised against it, according to Mesopotamia Agency.
Multiple options were discussed during the meeting including the possible formation of a “new political party”.
During the meeting, the emphasis was firmly on “being more organised” in every aspect of life. Therefore the HDP will be launching a mobilisation of organisation and a public campaign to organise the people and engage with them to engage with the justice struggle.
The strategy was defined as “to win in Kurdistan, to make them lose in Turkey,” which the HDP based its election campaign on during the local elections in 2019 were discussed and also the discussions regarding HDP’s policies in the Kurdish cities of the country were put on the agenda of the party.
The central executive board of the HDP also argued that in the case of a permanent closure of their party, the HDP may follow a road map that was previously defined as the “third-way” to re-organise the united opposition in Turkey that focuses on creating a third way for the voters in Turkey other than the current government and current opposition, which lack the ability or will to embrace and organise the oppressed peoples and communities in the country.
