As part of the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) “Justice for All” campaign, HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan visited Democratic Alevi Associations (DAD) in İstanbul and called for the establishment of Truth Commissions to investigate the recent hostilities in Garê.
The Mesopotamia News Agency reported that during her speech Buldan spoke about Turkey’s offensive in the Garê mountains and the killing of 13 prisoners during Turkey’s bombardments.
Buldan and the accompanying party delegation were welcomed by DAD co-chair Saime Topçu and administrators. Buldan pointed out that the Maraş, Dersim, Çorum, Sivas massacres, in which Alevi people were murdered, were no different from the Zilan and Roboski massacres in which Kurds were killed.
“The deaths of 13 people in Garê three days ago is also no different from these massacres”, said Buldan. “Those who hold power in this country always choose conflict instead of accepting the demands of the Kurds, Alevis, and other groups living in this country. They conduct war policies instead of working for peace, and they never meet the demands of the diverse communities in Turkey”. She added that these murders have caused great pain and sorrow within society, and “that is why we must establish Truth Commissions”.
‘We will beat the current government in the elections’
Regarding the attacks against the HDP by the AKP (Justice and Development Party) and MHP (Nationalist Movement Party) Buldan stated the following:
“I want to underline that we as citizens must act together against the fascist politics of Turkey. That is what we aim to do with our ‘Justice for All’ campaign. With the support of Hızır [a mythological angel-like persona that helps those in need] and Allah, we will beat the current AKP and MHP government in the elections”.
