The international campaign “End the isolation, time to ensure freedom” continues with protests in France and Australia.
Kurdish activists in Bordeaux and Sydney protested against the isolation of Kurdistan Workers’ Party leader Abdullah Öcalan and demanded his freedom.
Protestors in Bordeaux issued a press statement regarding the 22 years of the system of isolation imposed upon Turkey’s Imralı Prison Island and the violation of human rights in Turkish prisons.
Protestors shared solidarity messages with the hunger strikes ongoing in Turkey, Iraq and Greece, and Turkey’s military assault in the besieged town of Afrin (Efrin) in Syria were also protested against.
In Sydney a protest was organised by the Democratic Kurdish Community Centre (DTKM) Women’s Committee under the banner, “End the isolation, time to ensure freedom” campaign.
The Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and the international friends of Kurds also gave support to the protest, sharing their message of solidarity with the Kurdish people’s struggle against political isolation system and also the occupation of Afrin. Ongoing hunger strikes in Turkish prisons against the isolation of Kurdish Leader Öcalan were saluted by the protestors.
