Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Executive Board Member Duran Kalkan commented on the latest developments regarding the campaign for the freedom of imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and also shared his thoughts on the reform discourse of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) alliance in Turkey.
Referring to the support of trade unions in Britain and South Africa, Kalkan said Turkey’s attacks were not only against Öcalan or the PKK, but all socialist and democratic forces in Turkey and across the world.
Kalkan also remarked on the reform discourse of the ruling alliance in Turkey. Noting that the government’s reform plan could not be called “democratic”, Kalkan said the main aim of it was to increase the oppression of dissenters in Turkey.
